About Monique Huizar

Ms. Monique Annette Huizar earned her B.S. in Accounting from the Leventhal School of Accounting at USC on May 14, 2004.  Monique embarked on a quest to enrich her knowledge base at an early age by participating in summer youth programs in her local community until eventually she was singled out to become a Program Monitor for the same job training program, stepped up to give back to a community that had rendered her a life-long work ethic to put principles first, and to this day comes back to the same basic principles of sound business conduct.

Monique earned her AA degree in Business Administration at Santa Monica College on December 19, 2000. While her interest in Business Administration was made possible through her participation in the job training program, it was only after taking accounting courses at SMC that she took a strong interest in accounting. She quickly recognized the value of communicating transparent and relevant financial information to external parties and committed herself to launching a career in accounting.

Highlights and Accomplishments

Ms. Huizar is fortunate to have been mentored by the best professionals through out her work experience as Accountant for several companies in the real estate, entertainment, and the non-profit sectors, as well as experience as a Tax Preparer for both a well-known franchise and a community resource non-profit organization. Her background provides the sufficient knowledge to ensure her success as an independent contractor. She currently enjoys assisting a non-profit organization with meeting their financial reporting needs and spearheading the development of their accounting information system. Ms. Huizar is well prepared to understand the particular financial situation of her clients and offer high quality accounting and tax services.

While her business doesn't fall under the same umbrella of stringent requirements as those of an IRS VITA program, she strives to conduct business with the same high standards as it relates to the interview process and protecting the clients information. With her certification as a Volunteer Income Tax Assistant, she is equipped to offer her services to low-income communities but is then also able to apply her knowledge to all other tax payers as well. A further incentive is that, as an Enrolled Agent, she is able to represent her clients in Tax Court and follow through on the tax returns that she prepares.

Work Project Samples

High Volume Transaction Management - Trust Fund Accounting

As part of a small team responsible for distributing just under 2,000 settlement distributions, she's been charged with setting up a database to track gross awards and check distributions while successfully managing to account for all client balances.  This experience was equally challenging as it was rewarding and granted her the opportunity to gain valuable expertise with mass tort settlement finance administration.

Thorough Tax Preparation Consultations

As a tax professional with experience preparing over 100 successful individual income tax returns her first tax season in 2013, Ms. Huizar has become familiar with various income tax preparation software's that have enabled her to extend virtual consultation services to self-preparers with questions about their tax preparation software.
